The hermitage of Caterina de’ Medici, today better known as the Poggio Nuccioli estate, is located among the green hills of Carmignano, where the Etruscans left their mark. The villa, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, offers stunning views and is just a few paces from the piazza of Carmignano, an old Tuscan village nestled in the hills and renowned for the production of a DOC wine and an extra virgin olive oil that were already famous at the time of the noble Medici family. The particularity of this farmhouse is that typical local materials have been used during the renovation, sandstone (with the particular processing method, subbiatura, of this area), terracotta, wooden beams and trusses. The garden, typical of this area, is distributed over various levels with each view a veritable picture postcard. It is a strategic point for the most beautiful itineraries in Tuscany, to Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Pistoia, Vinci.
